Does British Columbia have a provincial pawnbroker law?

Not anymore. B.C.'s Pawnbrokers Act was repealed effective April 11, 2002. Since then, regulation of pawnbrokers and second-hand dealers in B.C. is entirely municipal — each city writes and enforces its own by-law.

Which B.C. municipalities have real, verified pawnbroker by-laws?

Beyond Vancouver's By-law No. 2807, real by-laws were confirmed for Burnaby (No. 440), Surrey (No. 13183), Saanich (No. 5070), Sechelt (No. 382), and Vernon (No. 4878). Kelowna has a named bylaw whose exact number wasn't confirmed. Victoria's own bylaw directory doesn't list a dedicated pawnbroker by-law. Confirm what applies to your specific municipality.

Is there a province-wide police reporting system in B.C.?
